OMG, iPhones are the coolest! I have this idea for an app that creates a YouTube video of everyone tweeting about bunny rabbits on my street. There are 12! Now, if only I knew Objective-C and Xcode. And Interface Builder. And all those APIs. And iPhone approvals! Please make it stop! All I know is HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Not sure those do me any good. What’s that you say, David? I can build mobile apps using that stuff? And my apps will work on Android as well as iPhones and iPads? I declare shenanigans!

Withhold thine shenanigans, gentle reader, and give yourself over to enlightenment as David walks you through building an actual app in just 3 hours using Sencha Touch, a framework for building rich web apps. When you leave this workshop, you will no longer be daunted by mobile devices. They will be daunted by you. Am I interested in learning Sencha? You betcha!

Please note: Workshops take place on Thursday (October 21st). Entrance to the conference on Friday (October 22nd) requires a separate ticket. You can attend a workshop on Thursday, even if you do not plan to attend the conference on Friday. We will be giving away four tickets for Friday, October 22nd, to people who register for workshops. (One free Friday ticket is being given away for each workshop. Winners will be chosen randomly.)
